When compared to cooking, baking is known as a science, whereas cooking is more freelance. Meaning you can adjust the measurements in cooking based on the giving situation you’re facing at that moment but baking requires you to follow the recipe to its “T” and you cannot change anything, because the ratios in baking must be perfect for the recipe to function properly.

Baking can be quite an experience, and it is a lot of fun  Baking once you understand  a few key concepts when it comes to mixing and baking. Below I break down and discuss the four main cooking / mixing methods that you may find when trying various baking recipes.

 

The four main Baking / Mixing Methods and Steps 

Biscuit

  •  fat + dry, Pinch fat with flour until crumbly Mix by hand/ fingers
  •   add the Liquid

Creaming

  • Mix fat and sugar until light and fluffy
  •  add the Eggs one at a time, mix well
  •  Add the liquid and dry ingredients alternately

Muffin

  •  dry than  add the liquid

One stage(breads)

  •   add all ingredients and mix slowly until ingredients are fully mixed.

The four main Baking /mixing methods above are just a quick sample of baking methods. There are many other methods and some recipes call for complex procedures. I  just wanted to give you  a quick over view of some Baking Procedures and a quick over few of the proper steps, because it is my believe that these four  baking / mixing procedures are the basic and most important. How To Pick Strawberry’s

The Basics

Remember Strawberry’s are delicate and can bruise easily. You must remember to handle the Strawberry’s with care and concern. Place Strawberry’s in a container of your choosing. I like to use the quart / pint cups similar to what the farmers use. Also any medium to small size plastic container will do. Its important to not over crowd the berry’s by stuffing the container, in order to prevent bruising.

The Five 5 Key Tips For Strawberry Picking

1- Picking season is in the spring usually for 3 to 6 weeks during April, May, and June.

2- Only Pick Strawberry's that are fully red,make sure to look under the leaves for ready to pick strawberry's while reaching for Strawberry's remember to be careful and not damage nearby plants by stepping down on them and crushing them with your knees. Also remember to respect other people who are visiting the farm for picking.

3- Look for strawberry's that have Ben damaged,and if you find damaged berry's place  them behind you in the field. Strawberry's may get damaged for various reasons but the main culprits are as follows. Sun burn,insect injury,plant rot,and crushed berry's.

4- the best time to pick strawberry's is in the morning, on slightly cold days.Also Cloudy days are great for picking strawberry's.Try to keep the strawberry's away from the sun and cool them down as soon as possible after picking.

5- Depending on the quality / condition of the berry at picking time,the Berry will stay fit for consumption for 3 days refrigerated . After 3 days the Strawberry's will start to shrivel,shrunken, and loose its bright beautiful red color.

Blueberry Pancake Recipe - Quick and scrumptious

I would like to share with you a blueberry pancake recipe, that is not only quick to make, but it is extremely simple to produce. It starts with fresh blueberry',some bowls,and a willingness to make Delicious pancakes in the comfort of your homes.

Cooking Time  35 Minutes ( From Start to Finish ) 

Equipment you will need

  • whisk for mixing
  • Spatula, ( to flip the pancake)
  • Bowls ( 2) Medium size
  • Saute pan
  • Oil /butter for cooking
  • Ice scream scoop ( To portion the pancakes) 

 Blueberry Pancake Recipe

  • Whole  Eggs : 3
  • Flour AP : 2 1/2 Cups
  • Baking soda: 1 TBS
  • Sugar ; 3 Cups
  • whole milk ; 2 cups
  • Vanilla extract : Splash
  • Blueberry's: 2 cups
  • salt:Pinch
  • Butter: 1/2 cup
  • Honey: 1/2 cup
  • oil: For cooking

Making the Blueberry Pancake  Batter

Step 1 : Mix / beat eggs. Then mix Soft Butter( Butter that is warm and soft) with beating eggs, then mix the milk,honey and vanilla extract.

Step 2: In a separate bowl sift flour, baking soda, salt and sugar in a bowl.

Step 3: Softly mix the dry ingredients in to the wet ingredients.

Step 4: Next fold the blueberry's in the batter. Portion and cook in pan.

Recipe Tips

<>Prep the butter by letting it sit on the counter and become warm and soft

<>Slowly mix the dry ingredients in with the wet ingredients

<>Dont worry if the batter looks funny and broken while mixing the butter and eggs, after the dry ingredients are added it will all smooth its self out.

Cook Time : 15 Min( From start to finish)

Ingredient

Measurement

  • Whole Eggs    3  
  • Flour-  2 ½ Cups
  • Sugar- 1 1/3 cups
  • Whole Milk- 2 cups
  • Vanilla extract- splash
  • Salt- Pinch
  • Baking Soda - 1 TBS
  • Strawberry’s - 2 Cups
  • Oil - ½ cup
  • Butter -  cooking / searing 

Cooking Instructions / Directions.

Step 1 : Mix / beat eggs. Then mix oil with beating eggs, then mix the milk and vanilla extract.

Step 2: In a separate bowl sift flour, baking soda, salt and sugar in a bowl.

Step 3: Softly mix the dry ingredients in to the wet ingredients.

Step 4: Next fold the diced strawberry’s in the batter. Portion and cook in pan.

Recipe Tips

  1. Dice or puree strawberries.
  2. Use Ice cream scoop to portion the Strawberry pancake.
  3. Flip pancake when you see bubbles around the outside of the pancake (roughly 2 min)
  4. Toss the Strawberry’s in sugar before adding to the recipe.
  5. Keep saute /cooking pan on low heat,the trick is to have the cooking pan hot,but not to the point that the pan burns. This simple  trick is essential for a golden brown crispy cake.
